Cargo ship flying the Maltese flag, launched in 1968 and of Japanese manufacture. It was sailing from the port of Tripoli in Lebanon, headed to the port of Ploèe in Crotia, when it sank off the coast of Gargano in Puglia, Italy, on December 16th 1988. The ship was then washed ashore to end against the dunes of the coastal lake of Lesina, in the Gargano peninsula. The name of the ship was changed shortly before of the accident. The dossier "Affondamenti sospetti" of Legambiente declares that after the incident "around the hull, for a three kilometres ray, lie 23 rusted and smelly barrels". Investigative journalist Gianni Lannes detected abnormal levels of radioactivity around the remains of the ship, which to date are still abandoned on the beach of Lesina, and around a number of rusty drums scattered on the beach. No official information is available about the owners.

Turkish tanker ship launched in 1969 of 12.670 tons of gross tonnage. According to the dossier "Affondamenti sospetti" (Suspicious sinkings) of Italian environmental NGO Legambiente, on the 1st of May 1995, the Esram was spotted while unloading "its own special cargo" 13 miles north of Vieste, Puglia, Italy by the fishing boat Messalina of Manfredonia. As a consequence the Esram "hits and sinks deliberately the fishing boat", causing the death of two of the fishers, Michele Attanasio and Antonio Andretti. After the incident the Esram fled to Rijeka in Yugoslavia to avoid prosecution for the deliberate attack.
